CBD is a term that you get to hear to hear frequently in discussions about herbal therapeutics. It is a compound, to be precise, a cannabinoid that is extracted from cannabis plants. As per the law, hemp plants are the only legal source of CBD although marijuana too is a CBD source. The reason why the law treats hemp CBD and marijuana CBD differently is the difference in their THC contents. THC is an intoxicating cannabinoid that is capable of causing euphoric effects in the users.
The law specifies that CBD products cannot contain more than 0.3% THC. Hemp has low THC content and employing pure extraction methods, CBD products with minimal THC content can be made out of hemp.
In this session, we are discussing three spectrum options in CBD to figure out what makes them different from each other.
Full Spectrum CBD
In a full spectrum CBD product, cannabidiol is not the only compound. Instead, it has cannabinoids like THC(less than 0.3%), CBDA, CBN, CBG, as well as terpenes and flavonoids. The presence of two or more cannabinoids produces an entourage effect in the users that amplifies the benefits offered by the CBD product. The benefit offered by a CBD-only product will be lesser than the benefits that a full spectrum CBD product offers.
The THC content in full spectrum CBD is not potent enough to cause a high in the users. But there are chances for it leading to a failed drug test.
Broad Spectrum CBD
Broad spectrum CBD is different from full spectrum in terms of its THC content. While full spectrum CBD has less than 0.3% THC, broad spectrum CBD does not have any THC. It is a zero THC spectrum option. Because it is THC alone that is missing in a broad spectrum CBD in comparison to full spectrum CBD, users can still expect an entourage effect after using it.
The absence of THC in this spectrum option alleviates the worries of drug test failure. People who take regular drug tests can go for broad spectrum CBD. In that respect, the next spectrum option we are discussing is also the same as broad spectrum CBD.
CBD isolate is a CBD-only spectrum option that has about 99% CBD. It does not have any cannabinoid except CBD. They usually come in the form of crystals and powder. Because its only cannabinoid is CBD, the entourage effect will not be produced on taking CBD isolate.
Among the options, full spectrum hemp, broad spectrum hemp and CBD isolate, full spectrum CBD has the highest potency.
